Max Cornwell
Max Cornwell is a registered psychologist and accredited social worker with decades of experience in helping individuals, couples and families from many backgounds with a wide range of personal and relationship difficulties. He is strongly committed to listening carefully without judgement to help find respectful solutions to problems in living.
Max has done advanced training in the United Kingdom, USA and Italy. He has served on National and State Committees of the Australian Association of Social Workers and is a former Editor of both Australian Social Work and The Australian and New Zealand Journal of Family Therapy (ANZJFT); he has presented and published aspects of his work in several countries. He was a co-founder of the NSW Social Workers in Private Practice Group, NSW Family Therapy Association and the Family Therapy Institute of Australia. For many years he was Executive Director of the Institute.
He is a recipient of the ANZJFT Award for Distinguished Contributions to Family Therapy and an Honorary Life Member of the Australian Association of Family Therapists. In 2022 he received the Order of Australia Medal for “contributions to community health through psychology and social work”.
